Marry in a church above the sea — celebrate on a private estate minutes away
Couples who want their marriage celebrated in church rarely want the reception in a hotel ballroom. Around Ferragudo there are chapels on the cliffs, a whitewashed church at the heart of an old fishing village, and a hermitage on a promontory between two beaches. Vila Flamingo sits within a short drive of all of them, on three hectares of private grounds let for your exclusive use.

Four places of worship within easy reach of the estate. Availability, conditions and the documents required are settled with each parish directly — well ahead, as the most photographed of them are booked a long way in advance.
The chapel every visitor to the Algarve photographs: a small white church on the edge of the cliff at Algar Seco, inside the walls of the old fort, with nothing beyond it but the Atlantic. It belongs to the Parish of Lagoa (Nossa Senhora da Luz), which celebrates Mass here on Saturdays and, once a month, in English.

The church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição crowns the whitewashed streets of Ferragudo, above the fishing harbour and the Arade. It is the closest church to the estate and the one most guests can reach on foot from the village square — the obvious choice for a wedding that wants the Algarve of narrow lanes and boats rather than the Algarve of resorts.

A hermitage on a rock promontory that runs out into the sea between two beaches, one of the oldest places of Christian worship on this coast. Small, white, and almost entirely surrounded by water — the setting for an intimate ceremony rather than a large congregation.

For Orthodox couples, the nearest parish is in Portimão itself: the parish of Saint Daniel of Girona, part of the Vicariate of Portugal of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), which celebrates the Divine Liturgy there regularly. The same Vicariate has parishes at Albufeira, Faro, Lagos and Loulé.

Mass times are those published by the Diocese of the Algarve and by the Vicariate of Portugal, and may change — please confirm with the parish. Wedding dates, conditions and documents are a matter for the church concerned, not for the villa.
The estate is let to you alone for the whole of your stay. No other guests, no shared pool, no strangers in the photographs, and no closing time imposed by a hotel.
Catering, drinks, staffing, marquee, staging, flowers and music are arranged by you with your own suppliers, and quoted separately from the venue and the accommodation. We do not impose a kitchen or a supplier list.
A covered pergola of around 120 m² for a seated dinner, a rear terrace of around 380 m² for the ceremony blessing, dancing or a marquee, a reception room of 126.70 m² with a stone fireplace, and a lower-level room of around 140 m² with a bar for the end of the evening.
Nine bedrooms sleep up to 20 adults and 2 children. For the wider family we can point you towards villas and hotels in the immediate area.

A blessing or a civil ceremony can be held in the grounds, subject to agreement. For the church ceremony itself, please speak to the parish.
Up to 600 guests present at any one time, with up to 20 adults and 2 children staying overnight in the house. Seated capacities depend on the layout and are agreed for each event.
A minimum of three nights. Church weddings usually justify longer, so that the family can arrive without rushing and the estate can be dressed the day before.
