Vila Flamingo welcomes Indian, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and multicultural celebrations. A wedding that unfolds over several days, with different rituals in different settings and a great many people who matter, is not an exception we accommodate — it is the kind of gathering this estate was restored for.
The house sits in three hectares of private grounds between Ferragudo and the Lagoa countryside, a short drive from Portimão and around fifty minutes from Faro airport. It is let on an exclusive basis: for the length of your celebration, the estate is yours and no one else’s.
Vila Flamingo is let as a venue, not as a package. You bring the people you trust — your caterer, your decorator, your priest, your musicians. We do not impose a kitchen, a menu or a supplier list.
There is no hotel lobby, no other party by the pool, no strangers in the photographs. Set-up can begin when you need it to and the estate stays yours until the last day of the celebration.
The grounds, the terraces and the interiors can be dressed, staged and re-dressed between events. A space used for one ritual in the morning can be transformed for another in the evening.
The immediate family stays in the house itself. For the wider family and guests, we can point you towards villas and hotels in the immediate area — the bookings remain theirs to make.
A South Asian wedding is not one event but a sequence of them, each with its own mood. The estate offers several distinct settings, so that no two celebrations have to look alike.
Open, bright and informal — the natural setting for a Mehndi or a Haldi, for a welcome gathering, or for a daytime ceremony under the trees. The pool area sits within grounds of some three hectares, with room well beyond the water’s edge.
Shaded, open-sided and directly connected to the gardens: the obvious place to seat guests for a meal, and the space that lets an outdoor dinner go ahead whatever the sky is doing.
The largest flat outdoor area on the estate. A ceremony space, a dance floor, a stage, a marquee, a mandap — the terrace takes whatever the day asks of it.
A generous reception room with a grand stone fireplace, opening onto the terraces. It works as a lounge for guests, as a getting-ready space for the family, and as the indoor equivalent of an outdoor ceremony.
On the lower level, with a bar, a screen and a projector. Away from the bedrooms, it is the room for a Sangeet, for late music and for dancing after the meal — the celebration can carry on without waking the house.
Seating up to twenty around one table. The room for the family dinners on either side of the wedding itself, and for the quieter moments of a long week.
Seated capacities depend entirely on the layout chosen — round tables, long tables, ceremony seating or standing reception all use the same space very differently. We will work them through with you and your planner for your own configuration.
The estate is let for a minimum of three nights, and wedding celebrations are usually longer. Nothing has to be squeezed into a single day, and nothing has to happen twice in the same room.

Because the estate is yours exclusively, your decorator and production team are not working around anyone else’s schedule. Access for set-up and dismantling is agreed with us in advance and written into the contract, along with everything that touches the fabric of the house and the grounds.
The estate can host gatherings of every size, up to 600 guests present at any one time. Up to 20 adults and 2 children stay overnight in the nine bedrooms of the house itself.
Vila Flamingo is let as a venue. Catering, drinks, staffing, marquees, staging, lighting, sound and security are arranged by you, directly with your own suppliers — and quoted separately from the venue and the accommodation.
Specialist South Asian caterers are welcome on the estate, subject to prior agreement. Cooking on this scale needs to be planned properly — where the kitchen goes, what it draws on, how deliveries arrive and how the site is left afterwards. We go through those questions with your caterer before the contract is signed, so that nobody discovers a constraint on the day.
There is no imposed décor and no house style to work around. A mandap, a stage, drapery, floral installations and lighting rigs can all be built on the estate; positions, fixings and protection of surfaces are agreed in advance.
Bollywood DJs, dhol players, classical musicians, live singers and choreographed performances are all part of what happens here. Amplified music is possible, within terms — including the hours it may run — set out in the agreement for your event.
Photography and film teams have the run of the estate: the grounds, the terraces, the pool, the olive trees and the interiors, without other guests in the frame.
Rituals involving an open flame — the agni for the pheras among them — are considered case by case and confirmed in writing in the agreement, together with the protective measures they call for. Please raise it with us early: it is one of the first things we settle.
The Algarve is generous, but no one plans a wedding on the strength of a forecast. The estate is built so that rain changes the setting and not the programme: the covered pergola shelters a seated meal, the reception room takes a ceremony, and the lower level holds the music and the dancing whatever the sky is doing.
Yes. External specialist caterers are welcome, subject to prior agreement. We go through the practical arrangements — where the kitchen is set up, what it needs, how deliveries and waste are handled — with your caterer before the contract is signed.

No. Vila Flamingo is the venue; we work alongside your planner, or can suggest planners in the Algarve who specialise in South Asian weddings. The relationship remains between you and them.
Two separate lines: hire of the venue, and whole-villa accommodation. Everything else — catering, drinks, marquee, staging, staffing, security — is arranged and paid directly with your own suppliers.
